From The Land Down Under

Coin collectors' favorite cuddly marsupial has returned to Numis Network's Silver Coin of the Month. Enjoying its sixth year in production, the Australian Silver Koala was first introduced by the Perth Mint in 2007.

January's Collector Spotlight

This month, our collector spotlight focuses on one of our earliest members to the Silver Coin of the Month Club, David Angelo of Ocean View, New Jersey.

David has been member of the Silver Coin of the Month Club since Numis Network first launched in 2009. He was not a coin collector prior to joining but has since amassed an impressive collection of graded and certified silver and gold coins.

The Mother of Canaidan Medals

Numis Network's Silver Coin of the Month for January 2012 is the impeccable Canadian Silver Maple Leaf. Born November 16, 1913 in Budapest, Hungary, the sculptor Dora de Pedery-Hunt is credited with creating the maple leaf design on the coin's reverse. She graduated from the Royal School of Fine and Applied Arts in Budapest in 1943 and immigrated to Canada where she helped establish the Canadian Portrait Academy and the Medallic Art Society of Canada.

Turn Over A New Leaf

The Silver Maple Leaf was first issued by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1988 following the success of Gold Maple Leaf program. Struck in one troy ounce of .9999 fine silver, as opposed to the .999 standard of other government mints, the Silver Maple Leaf has one of the highest levels of purity of any silver coin produced in the world today.
