The Purrfect Coin

As we enter the month of November and weather becomes progressively cooler across the Northern Hemisphere, there is one thing that I've been looking forward to (besides the upcoming holidays), Numis Network's next Silver Coin of the Month, the 2012 Silver Canadian Cougar.

A Vision of the Outback

Darryl Bellotti, the designer for the reverse of the 2012 Australian Silver Kookaburra, is an indigenous artist of aboriginal descent. He is perhaps best known for his work on the Perth Mint's Dreaming Series of gold and silver coins which celebrate Australia's wildlife with Bellotti's contemporary interpretation of traditional Aboriginal art.

Ian Rank-Broadley

The obverse of the Australian Kookaburra, Numis Network's Silver Coin of the Month, features Ian Rank-Broadley's iconic portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

Born in 1952, Ian Rank-Broadley is one the United Kingdom's most highly acclaimed sculptors. In 1997, his design for a new effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was chosen by the Royal Mint and has been used on circulating coinage throughout the Commonwealth since 1998.

The Perth Mint

The 2012 Australian Silver Kookaburra, Numis Network's Silver Coin of the Month, is one of the best selling coin series produced by the highly lauded Perth Mint.

First opened in 1899 as a branch of London's Royal Mint, the Perth Mint was originally established in response to the discovery of vast gold deposits in Coolgardie and Kalgoorlie. Prospectors from around the world, who flocked to the region in the hopes of striking it rich, brought their gold ore to the Perth Mint to be refined and struck into coins.
